ABOUT

American Icon, Bob Ross, was born in Daytona, Florida in 1942. From an early age Bob’s mother taught him to love and respect nature. Bob took his first painting lesson at a U.S.O. Club in Anchorage, Alaska while serving in the Air Force. After he left the Air Force, Bob returned to Florida where he attended various art schools and painting classes until he discovered the “wet-on-wet” technique. He then went on to revise the technique and make it his own, now called “alla prima.” Bob felt especially passionate about sharing his love for painting and in 1982 he launched “The Joy of Painting” on public television.
